Description

Trying to figure out more character design and what are copics. Just a demon cricket thing and some drow - a noblewoman, axeman and whip specialist.

Not to sound creepy, but this comment of mine is some well-deserved fanmail which has been a long time coming.

Please accept this as a compliment and not as a slam on whatever your age is: over the past few years, I've noticed while looking at your artwork that you always seem to be "me" from five or ten years into the future.

i.e. Your artwork, composition, choice of materials, choice of subject matter, etc. are similar enough to mine yet juuuust out of reach enough that I can learn by watching and reading whatever drawings you're posting. In contrast, when I see many digital painters here on DA who were born over a decade after I was and are already making photorealistic art (with expensive and constantly-begging-for-the-latest-upgrade media that cost an entire month's pay for me), I give up and can't even begin to try and follow them. (I've given mice and stylus pads a fair chance, but when it comes to penciling and inking I am still far, far better with traditional pencil and markers.) Your artwork is always a step ahead of mine instead of being an unreachable 10 steps ahead, and if I want to see what my next step in my own lifetime progression as an artist should be, all I have to do is click on your gallery.

Your creativity in combining RL historical clothing and gear and cultures into rpg characters is inspiring. Native American Mohawk elves ambushing colonists with muskets? Now THAT'S impressive, especially when it's clear that you weren't just guessing at what their clothing and weapons might look like.

Even the way you compose pictures makes me instantly go, "Hey! I could do that! Why aren't I doing that!" instead of "I could do better than that," nor "I could live to 100 and not reach that level of quality."

Thank you for always keeping a step ahead of me and serving as a reachable example of what my artwork can aspire to at the next step up.
