Not only is that an alignment violation but I'm pretty certain that you can't actually poison a blade that way.

POISON IS EVIL!

And stabbing people are not? It's not like I am poisoning their food! that's different I thinks! If it was evil, poison possessing animals would be far form nutural, because of alignment shift each time they bite some one!

Hmm, I ought to look up how to apply poison, do you pour it down the length of the blade?
Swafe it with a cloth soaked in poison? Spray it on? All of the above, maybe at the same time?

Hey, AD&D logic is consistently spotty about ethics the same way as any other rules. You know - going into a group of orcs and killing them is consistent with being lawful and good.

The poison thing I think is just a convenience for gamemasters in the old school systems, because otherwise lots of players, having figured out that this was the way to quicker experience points, would be wandering around with poisons. The idea of having poisoned weapons seems to me as characteristic of good aligned wild elves as much as of evil drow and orcs, so...

I think the way one does it is soak a cloth, and wipe down the blade, sort of like carefully oiling it. I assume you want to oil the blade first to help preserve it first.

Sounds understandable in both cases.

I kinda like how poison was handle in the rougelike incursion, running on the 3e ruleset, the poisons take multiple turns to take effect, and normally monsters are dead before that, however if you got a nasty monster you can over dose him on con poison and just wait him out. =p
