Werewolf anatomy

Description

As requested. It's not really a tutorial and it could look a lot better but it gets across the salient points I wanted to make;

1. Draw off of known, existing anatomy to come up with fantasy creatures.

2. Real wolves are built for running for hours on end - so they're actually not hugely blocky and broad. But drawing heavier builds and broader shoulders "reads" as more monstrous - so that's pretty much how I tend to draw 'em.

3. Human skulls attach pretty much vertically to our spines and wolf skulls attach pretty much horizontally to theirs. Drawing something kind of in between, at an angle, not only "reads" as a hybrid (at least to me) but it gets more of a wolfy "mane," which hides the join of neck and shoulders and makes it look less clumsy.

4. I usually figure werewolves keep their legs spread somewhat. Trying to stand upright on wolf-styled digitigrade legs would mean a creature which leaned somewhat forwards, and kept its legs sort of spread, just to balance itself. If you're wondering about this one, try walking around on tip toes. Again, having this hunched over pose reads as more "monstrous" so that's good.
